From 17th May until 28th July we have 73 days of perpetual daylight, the midnight sun season.
Warmer weather obviously alters snow and ice structure. It also means dogs have to work harder as the end of the snow season looms. Despite heavy snowfalls this winter some boulder areas were always void of snow so with no choice but to move over bare rock it was always difficult and slow moving.
To stretch out my season I ran my dogs at night sometimes setting off at 9 pm with my dogs into the fjord system and camping at 5 am.
On 27th May I ran yearlings Yogi and Bigness for the first time. They loved it.
