By July urges and cravings intensified. Our hospital had handed out the last of the condoms weeks ago and the food store was looking bare. The re-supply ship finally arrived on 23rd July.
The ship’s anchor chain clattered its way down before snagging itself to the seabed. The crowd cheer was loud and relieved. It was a good feeling knowing the world still knows we’re here. It was quite an atmosphere and there were a few fireworks set off into a dank cloudy daytime sky. Hunters took kids aboard their boats and motored out to the big ship. It took a week’s work to offload the cargo. Alcohol was the last ashore. The condoms made it too.
